About Tigereye

Colours: Yellow to Brown Stripes.

Tigereye is a member of the Quartz family. Inclusions of other minerals give it
its distinctive golden and brown parallel streaking. It is mined in Austria and
southwest Africa. Tigereye is not suitable for faceting, but is prized as a
Cabochon or in the manufacture of Cameos. Other members ofthe Quartz family
include Citrine, Smoky and Rose Quartz, Aventurine and Amethyst.
Many types of Quartz are utilized in the making of glass, radio and telephone
manufacture.
